Murder suspects request separate trials

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Two men accused of shooting and killing a Box Elder teen in February are trying to have their trials separated.

Andre Martinez and Cole Waters, both 20, are charged with aiding and abetting the first-degree murder of 17-year-old Emmanuel Hinton.

Their attorneys Tuesday, submitted a motion to have the two inmates tried separately. Judge Robert Gusinsky did not immediately rule on the hearing.

The two are set to appear in court again January 21st.
