Sturgis fighting water leak on Cedar Street

STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Public Works Department on Tuesday says crews have located a possible water main leak on Cedar Street.

In a release, the department says at this point they are treating it as a planned repair vs an emergency repair. This enables the department will have all the supply parts needed as well as give advance notice to all those affected.

On Wednesday morning, South Dakota Rural Water will assist in trying to pinpoint the exact spot of the leak to minimize the amount of road to be disturbed. Once located, repairs can be made. The city says they will be barricading the area, so people are being asked to avoid the area until repairs can be made.

The area affected will include Cedar Street from Douglas to Boulevard Street and Edmunds & Boulevard Streets between Cedar and Spruce. This includes the Williams Middle School. If you live in this area expect water outages starting at approximately 8:30 A.M Wednesday.
