Air Force grounds B1's after ejection seat malfunction
Brad Anderson - Homeslice News - June 8, 2018

RAPID CITY SD -- U-S Air Force officials have grounded the nation's B-1-B Lancer bomber force, after the emergency of a Dyess bomber on May 1st with a failure of an ejection seat and escape hatch.

The Global Strike Command's "Safety Stand-down" issued Thursday, is for all B-1's including the fleet at Ellsworth Air Force Base.

The Global Strike Command order comes one month after the Air Force ordered a day-long, fleet-wide stand-down while it conducted a safety review following a series of deadly accidents. At that time, the Air Force said it was seeing fewer accidents, but that 18 pilots and crew members had been killed since October 1st.
