Argyle Volunteer Firefighter dies while en-route to battle wildfire

Gary Matthews - April 17, 2019

CUSTER, S.D. - The Argyle Fire Department says one of their firemen is being remembered today after he suffered a medical emergency and died en-route to battle a wildfire Wednesday.

The department put out a release on Facebook saying Firefighter Dwain Hudson experienced a medical emergency as he and other firefighters were en-route to battling the High Plains Fire near Jewel Cave Wednesday.

The department says other A.V.F.D. Firefighters and E.M.S. members immediately rendered emergency medical aid until Custer Ambulance Service arrived on scene.

Firefighter Hudson was transported to Custer Regional Hospital where resuscitation efforts continued. However, efforts to save Dwain were not successful.

The department was asking everyone to keep the fireman and his family in their thoughts and prayers today.
