Authorities identify two people killed in separate crashes

REVA, S.D. – A 17-year-old male from Reva has been identified as the person who died last Wednesday in a one-vehicle crash near Reva.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was westbound on Sorum Road, east of the intersection with South Dakota Highway 79, when the driver, Jaxon Klempel, lost control. The vehicle eventually tipped over and rolled.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person involved.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

Meanwhile, A Martin, S.D. woman has been identified as the person who died last Tuesday afternoon in a one-vehicle rollover north of Tuthill.

A 2007 Chevrolet Malibu was northbound on 237th Avenue, traveling around a curve when it left the roadway. The vehicle entered the east ditch, tipped and rolled.

Leota Frandsen, 83, was the driver and only occupant. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
