Rattlesnake Bite

Rattlesnake Bite
Authorities report another rattlesnake bite
News Staff - June 13, 2018

SPEARFISH, S.D. - The spring has been a good one for rattlesnakes -- and authorities have reported yet another person being bitten by one in the Black Hills.

A Lead man is the latest victim after being bitten while camping in the Sand Creek area last week.

The Black Hills Pioneer reports the 26-year-old man was bitten while taking a walk in a field adjacent to the popular camping area near Beulah, Wyoming.

The man was bitten near the ankle and believes he probably startled the snake. He was taken to Spearfish Hospital and was immediately treated with anti-venom. He was then transferred to Rapid City, where he was given more anti-venom over a course of two days.

The incident happened a day after an Illinois man died from a rattlesnake bite he suffered while golfing at Elkhorn Ridge.
