City of Sturgis consolidates recycle sites

News Staff - February 27, 2018

STURGIS, SD – A tidy community where recycling is available isn’t just a given.  It takes resources and work.  Not just from the city’s Public Works Department but from citizens too.

And being environmentally responsible just got a bit easier with the announcement of the consolidation of recycling collection locations in the city.

Effective March 1, 2018 the City of Sturgis recycling activities will all be consolidated to the Exit 32 lot. This one-stop drop-off location allows for a more efficient way for the sanitation division to collect recyclables while providing more convenience to residents.

Services will include a larger cardboard bin, newsprint trailer, two plastic, glass and aluminum trailers, battery drop off and seasonal clean-up campaigns for branches and yard waste.

It’s important to use the labeled collection bins appropriately when disposing of recyclable waste.  Cooperation from citizens using the recycling service correctly ensures the service will be available to all and help to keep the community environmentally sound.
