News Staff - September 26, 2017

DEADWOOD, S.D. – Deadwood Hotel occupancy rates showed an increase in August this year when compared with August 2016 numbers. According to monthly data released Friday by Deadwood's City Finance Office, hotels in Deadwood had an occupancy rate of 72.25 percent for August 2017, which is a 2.58 percent increase when compared with August 2016.

"Deadwood hotel occupancy rebounded in August when compared to August of 2016," said Mike Rodman, executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association. “August hotel occupancy shows Deadwood hotels rented 1,218 more room nights this August than last year.  However, it still trailed August of 2015 by 1.96% and 671 room nights.

"Deadwood's August occupancy rate also trended above the national August hotel occupancy rate of increase, which was up by 0.9%," Rodman added. “Deadwood’s overall occupancy rate was above the national hotel occupancy rate of 70.7% for August of 2017."

Earlier this summer, Architectural Digest featured Deadwood as “One of The 15 Most Beautiful Main Streets Across America.”
