Deadwood October Hotel Occupancy Down Slightly

DEADWOOD, S.D. - Deadwood Hotel occupancy rates showed a slight decrease in October this year when compared with October 2016 numbers. According to monthly data released today by Deadwood's City Finance Office, hotels in Deadwood had an occupancy rate of 51.39 percent for October 2017, which is a 0.66 percent decrease when compared with October 2016.

"Deadwood hotel occupancy declined again in October when compared to October of 2016," said Mike Rodman, executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association. "October hotel occupancy shows Deadwood hotels rented 313 less room nights this October than last year."

"The national October hotel occupancy rate posted an increase, which was up by 1.6 percent," Rodman added. "Deadwood's overall occupancy rate was far below the national hotel occupancy rate of 69.6 percent for October of 2017.

Wide Open Country Magazine recently listed Deadwood number one on its list of "10 Historic Cowboy Towns in the US you need to visit."
