Joe Trusty lived life to the finish line, which he reached on November 4, 2017.

Joe was born on June 5, 1946 to Gilbert and Inez (Thurlow) Trusty. He joined siblings, Ken and Carol and later were joined by sisters, Berna and Becky.

Joe attended Garfield Grade School until the family moved out to the country by Rockerville where he went to Blair Country School. He later attended South Jr. High and Central High School.

Upon graduating he went to trade school in Omaha, NE. He was then drafted and sent to Vietnam. Between boot camp and AIT, Joe married Ronda Henrichsen in Rapid City. They spent the next 50 years and 10 months together! They had 2 children, Trent and Joella. Trent owns Trusty Graphics and works as an assistant manager at a convenience store and has 3 children. Joella went on to get married and become a nurse and she has 2 daughters.

Joe enjoyed the country woods, the space and the gravel roads.

Joe worked in several areas of construction mostly heating and air conditioning at Streets. Ronda taught school. He always enjoyed cars and racing. He drove circle track at Black Hills Speedway in the early 60’s and 70’s and owned several classic Fords and one Trans-Am and a car hauler.

He also enjoyed spending time with his immediate and extended families. They had HUGE holidays, birthdays, and Sundays.

 Mother-In-Law: Delphia Williams

                             Lyla (Sam Klinnert) Henrichsen   
Brother-In-Law: Fran Forsell
5 Grandchildren: Amethyst (Garret) Brimm

He was proceeded in death by both of his parents: Gil and Inie Trusty

Father-in -law: Floyd Henrichsen  
 Services will be Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 1 pm at Black Hills Funeral Home with Chaplin (Ret.) Herb Cleveland officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery at 2 pm, with Post 1273 providing military honors. The family extends an invitation for everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the VFW Post 1273, 420 Main Street in Rapid City, following the services at Black Hills National Cemetery.
