Rapid City airport reports record May
News Staff - June 12, 2018

RAPID CITY, S.D. - Rapid City Regional Airport is reporting record numbers for last month, with over 50,000 passengers cycling in and out.

Over 25,000 passengers took to the skies from Rapid City Regional, and nearly 27,000 landed at the airport through the month of May. Passengers going in and out of the airport was up nearly five percent from May of last year. May set a record for number of passengers flying out of the airport, and a key reason is because of an increasing number of flight destinations.

Rapid City Regional Airport Executive Director, Patrick Dame says, "We've had some increases in flights. Again, we had Charlotte come back this year. So what we've seen has been some added seats to the market, and that's caused what is for us, a record month, and pretty much a record going forward to this point this year, so we're pretty pleased with that."

The airport has also added a new destination recently. The first nonstop flight to Newark, New Jersey is set for later this month.
