Scooper baseball wraps up regular season with win over Douglas

STURGIS, S.D. - The Sturgis Scooper baseball team wrapped up the regular season with a 5-1 win over Douglas Wednesday night.

The game was delayed two hours due to a thunderstorm that dropped heavy rain. The delay shortened the game to five innings.

Chris Nash got the pitching win, going two innings and striking out two. Gage Murphey came in to close, and struck out six.

Nash also added 2 hits offensively for the Scoopers. Nick Anderson had two R.B.I.'s and Murphey had a double that brought in a run.

The Scoopers finish the season with a record of 7-5.

The Scoopers will head into the playoffs the 11th seed and play Pierre in Sioux Falls on Saturday. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. MT.
