STURGIS, S.D. An early Saturday morning fire sent Sturgis fire crews to Colorado Drive in the Deadman Addition.

In a Facebook post, Sturgis Fire reported quick response by area fire teams led to a quick knock down and limited damages.

Family members say residents in the home did suffer extensive smoke inhalation.

In a Facebook post Sunday, Stephanie Weber says the home is owned by her aunt and uncle Cherie and Bill McKee. She says their adult children and a one of their children, sustained serious lung injuries due to smoke inhalation. Her post says they were life-flighted to Colorado.

Weber's post went on to say:

"During their public school careers, Bill and Cherie taught many of us (and our kids); in Cherie's 20+ years of preschool, she taught our children and even grandchildren. Now this family who has always been at the ready to help others really needs our prayers and support, now and in the coming weeks and months, to help them make a full recovery."
