Yellow Jacket women earn No. 5 seed in South Central Region

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.The NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Committee announced the 64-team field that will compete in the 2018 Basketball Championship. Black Hills State University earned the No. 5 seed in the South Central Region and will play No. 4-seeded Angelo State on Friday, March 9. The game, taking place in Lubbock, Texas, is scheduled to tipoff at 8:30 p.m. Central Time (7:30 p.m. Mountain Time).

The Yellow Jackets, who made it to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Final, finished the regular season with a 22-6 overall record, and was 16-6 in conference play. The team entered the league postseason tournament as the three seed, and defeated No. 6 Fort Lewis and No. 2 Metro State, before falling to No. 1 CSU-Pueblo in the Shootout Championship.

BHSU enters the NCAA Tournament with a 24-7 record, and meet the Angelo State University Belles, who are 22-6 overall, and finished the regular season with a 16-4 record in the Lone Star Conference.

Two other RMAC teams made the tournament field. CSU-Pueblo, the regular season and tournament RMAC Champions, are the No. 3 seed. MSU Denver also made it to the South Central Region pod. The Roadrunners are the No. 6 seed, and will play the Thunderwolves in the first round. Other games in the South Central region include No. 1 Lubbock Christian against No. 8 Tarleton State and No. 2 West Texas A&M against No. 7 Arkansas-Fort Smith.
