STURGIS, S.D. - For the second time in a week, the Sturgis Scoopers defeated Lead-Deadwood in high school baseball.
The Scoopers improved to 2-0 on the season Thursday night with a 5-2 win over the Golddiggers.
It was the second time within a week the two teams have played each other, and each time the Scoopers picked up wins with great pitching.
Starting pitcher Josh West got the latest win for the Scoopers, with Brian Duran stepping in to close.
Sturgis got 3 runs early in the contest off Lead-Deadwood pitcher Dillon Burns, who was replaced in the 3rd inning.
In other baseball action Thursday night, St Thomas More rolled over Hot Springs 24-6 in a game that lasted only four innings.
