|Rapid City Stevens shuts out Scoopers

STURGIS, S.D. - Jesse Nicholson pitched 6-and-three-quarter innings and struck out eight as the Rapid City Stevens Raiders shut out Sturgis 10-0 Tuesday night.
Nicholson allowed just one hit in throwing 96 pitches.
Stevens scored 3 runs in the second inning, but it was an error filled sixth inning that hurt the Scoopers the most. Stevens scored six runs in the sixth to take a commanding 9-0 lead. They would add one more in the top of the seventh.
Scooper starting pitcher Caleb Bates threw 90 pitches, striking out 4 batters.
Sturgis finished with four errors in the game. Stevens finished with 10 hits and no errors.
Sturgis slips to 6-7 on the season and will play Douglas Thursday night.
Rapid City Stevens improves to 7-6.
In other action Tuesday night, Rapid City Central defeated Douglas 5-2.
A three-run sixth inning propelled the Cobblers to the victory.
