RAPID CITY, S.D. – Douglas used a 5 run sixth inning to pull away from Sturgis and win 10-4 in Thursday night baseball.
The Patriots took a 3-0 led in the third inning, courtesy of an R.B.I. double by Colton Tipton.
Sturgis would put two runs on the board in the fourth, on a two-run home-run by Manny Gallosa.
But a big sixth inning made the difference for Douglas, who finished with 7-hits and 10-runs.
Tipton finished 2 of 4 with two double’s and 2 R.B.I.’s.
Starting pitcher Jaron Helstein had no strikeouts, but Douglas played great great defense, and took advantage of several Sturgis errors.
