|Another Slight Increase for Deadwood Hotel Occupancy
Deadwood Hotel Occupancy
News Release - December 30, 2016
DEADWOOD, S.D. - Deadwood Hotel occupancy rates again showed an increase in November when compared with November 2015 numbers. According to monthly data released today by Deadwood's City Finance Office, hotels in Deadwood had an occupancy rate of 29.01 percent for November 2016, which is a 1.59 percent increase when compared with November 2015.
"Deadwood hotel occupancy mirrored the small increase that Deadwood Gaming experienced in November," said Mike Rodman, executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association. "This equated to 745 more room nights this November than last year. The November increase, however, was not enough to push hotel occupancy into the black for the fiscal year, which ended in November. The 2016 fiscal year hotel occupancy was down 0.8 percent at 48.89 percent compared to last fiscal year of 49.68 percent. This equated to 3,616 less hotel rooms rented in Deadwood for the year.
"Deadwood's November occupancy rate fell below the national November hotel occupancy increase of 2.5 percent," Rodman added. "Deadwood's overall occupancy fell below the national occupancy rate of 60.7 percent for November 2016."
Deadwood is hopeful that recent snowfalls will bring a plethora of winter sports enthusiasts to the northern Black Hills.
