DSU-Atheltics Cuts

DSU-Atheltics Cuts
Dickinson State cutting its baseball and golf programs
The Associated Press - May 10, 2017

DICKINSON, N.D. - Dickinson State University is eliminating its baseball and golf programs as part of campus cost-cutting measures.

DSU is facing nearly $5 million in needed cuts during the next two years. The school says $400,000 of those cuts will come from athletics.

The baseball and golf programs will be discontinued after the 2017-18 season, unless the programs can raise enough money on their own.

DSU will allow athletes in the affected programs to contact other schools and will grant their release if they decide to transfer.

DSU isn't the only university in the state to cut some of its sports programs. The University of North Dakota in Grand Forks in March said it was eliminating swimming and women's hockey due to budget cuts.
