DEADWOOD, S.D. – The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America, one of the most successful and popular charity rides in the country, stopped in Deadwood Tuesday night.

The ride is led by former NASCAR driver and current NBC Sports racing analyst Kyle Petty.

What started out as Petty and a small group of friends riding together for fun in 1995, has grown into one of the most successful and popular charity rides in the country.

Petty says just over 200 bikers are on this year’s ride, which raises money for Victory Junction; a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

This year, more than 20 first time riders joined the cause. Other celebrities on the ride this year were Kyle’s father, Richard Petty, former football player Herschel Walker and NASCAR legends Harry Gant and Donnie Allison.

The ride will stop at Wall Drug Wednesday, before stopping in Mitchell. The ride ends Friday in Milwaukee.
