SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Team and individual titles were awarded Saturday as the South Dakota State Track and Field Championships wrapped up.

St Thomas More brought home the team title in the girls State A, and the St Thomas More boys finished second behind Siouix Falls Christian in the boys.

Sioux Falls Lincoln captured both the boys' and girls' team title in Class AA.

In Class B, Chester won the boys with last year's champion Bison placing third. Deubrook Area topped the Class B girls' title.

Individually, Shayla Howell of Belle Fourche had a great day for West River. Howell won the 100 and 200-meter dashes, and won both the long jump and triple jump. Howell was the lone four-event winner at this year's event.

She was selected the top athlete in both track and field events by the South Dakota High Coaches Association.

Also selected was Wall's Kyla Sawvell and Allan McDonnell in Class B.

Other Class B winners on the day included Brianna Phillipsen of New Underwood, capturing first in the 100-meter hurdles; Delaney Leber of Newell, who won the 1,600-meter run; Daniel Burkhalter of Bison, winning the boys 1,600-meters; Cerrington Jones of New Underwood captured first in the long jump; and New Underwood won the girls 4x400-meter relay.

In Class AA, Rapid City Stevens won the 4x100-meter relay, with Rapid City Central capturing second.

Emilee Nickel of Rapid City Central captured first place in the girls' 100-meter hurdles with Elizabeth Schaefer of Rapid City Stevens winning the 300-meter hurdles.

Jacob Martin of Rapid City Stevens captured first place in the high jump.

In Class A, Jake Aanderud capped off a stellar season with a win in the 100-meters.  Custer's Reed Ashmore captured the discus title and the St Thomas More girls won the 4x200.

For Sturgis, some notables included Kylee Bennett placing second in the 800-meters, Holly Gerberding placing third in the 300-meter hurdles and seventh in the 100-meter hurdles; Gavin West placing fourth in the 110-meter hurdles; a fifth place finish for the girls in the 4x200 relay; Kylee Bennett grabbed third place in the girls' 1,600 meters; Lia Neumiller scored a fourth place finish in the girls 3,200-meters, Justice West got fourth in the boys' 300-meter hurdles; Ethan Brenneman scored third in the 800-meters with his teammate Sam Fjelstad coming in fourth; Sturgis captured a third place finish in the 1,600-meter sprint relay and a seventh place in the 4x400-meter relay; Jarrett Keffeler placed seventh in the 200-meter dash; the Sturgis boys team grabbed a third place finish in the 4x400-meter relay and Olivia Jolley placed 10th in the girls' high jump. On Friday, Caitlin Emick scored third place in the triple jump and eighth place in the long jump.
