Corn and Soybean Stocks Down, Sorghum Up 134 Percent

UNDATED - South Dakota corn stocks in all positions on June 1, 2017 totaled 281 million bushels, down 4 percent from 2016, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Of the total, 180 million bushels are stored on farms, down 12 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 101 million bushels, are up 15 percent from last year.

Soybeans stored in all positions totaled 44.8 million bushels, down 1 percent from last year. Onfarm stocks of 17.5 million bushels are down 30 percent from a year ago but off-farm stocks, at 27.3 million bushels, are up 34 percent from 2016.

All wheat stored in all positions totaled 50.6 million bushels, up 7 percent from a year ago. Onfarm stocks of 22.5 million bushels are up 25 percent from 2016 but off-farm stocks of 28.1 million bushels are down 4 percent from last year.

Sorghum off-farm stocks totaled 3.05 million bushels, up 134 percent from June 2016.

Oats stored in all positions totaled 2.36 million bushels, down 44 percent from last year. Onfarm stocks of 1.40 million bushels are down 53 percent from 2016. Off-farm stocks of 955,000 bushels are down 20 percent from last year.
