SpartanNash to close three grocery stores in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. - A company that owns a number of grocery stores in Rapid City is closing three of them by year's end. A number of grocery stores in Rapid City will close before year’s end.

In a statement made by SpartanNash, the parent company of Family Thrift, three Rapid City grocery stores will close in October.

Prairie Market at 11 New York Street, Family Thrift Center at 855 Omaha Street and the Family Thrift Express at 3464 Sturgis Road will all shut their doors later this year.

The two remaining stores, Family Thrift Center and Family Thrift Express at 1516 E. St. Patrick and Family Thrift Center at 751 Mount View in Baken Park are being remodeled and will remain open.

According to the company, the approximately 100 employees at the closing stores “will have the opportunity to work at one of the two remodeled stores.”
