Betty was born January 23, 1929, at Milbank, SD, to Melbourne and Florence (Lindahl) Lewis. She grew up and attended school and graduated from high school.

She met Francis Chaloupka and they married June 20, 1950. They moved to Rapid City for Francis’ job at Northwestern Bell and Betty worked at Telco Federal Credit Union. She was one of the lucky people who loved her job immensely! After her retirement she still helped at the credit union stuffing statements and getting them ready to mail. She also helped with the Pioneer ladies.

Every week she enjoyed getting together with her lady friends to play bridge, eat goodies, laugh and just have fun!

Her summers were spent having Francis drive her around the hills to find driftwood. She enjoyed finishing them as decorative pieces. She always had delicious apple pie or some kind of dessert to give to whoever stopped by. One of the most traumatic events of her life was the family surviving the 1972 flood.

She never had anything negative to say about anyone or anything. So many lives were touched by her. She will be sorely missed!Betty was a wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and a great -great -grandmother.
