Tom Kukal, age 82, of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Presbyterian Church in Kadoka with Pastor Gus Craven officiating.

Edward (Tom) Kukal born January 1, 1935, in Spearfish, South Dakota to Ladd and Ruth (Sherman) Kukal.

Tom grew up east of Wanblee on the farm. He attended Sandhill School and Wanblee public school in old Washabaugh County. He graduated from Kadoka High School.

In 1955, he was united in marriage to Arlee Good. They moved to Rapid City, SD, where he worked for Barber Transportation. They later moved to Idaho where he worked for Peter Keywit Construction. In 1959, they moved back to South Dakota and worked for Turner Construction.

In 1960 they moved back to the farm near Wanblee. In 1965 they bought the farm from his parents. Tom also worked for the ASC office and was a school board member for Washabaugh County for 12 years. Tom was also a member of the Kadoka Equity Union Board and a member of the Eagle Nest Life Center Church.

Although they sold the farm in 2009 they continued to reside there until his death.

Grateful for sharing his life with his wife of 62 years, Arlee of Kadoka; four children, son Marty Kukal and his wife Molly from Garrison, MT; daughter Tonya Crisman from Douglas, WY; son Joe Kukal and his wife Kassie of Kadoka; and daughter Tana O'Connor and companion Terry Sell of Rapid City; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister Jonita Stapleton and her husband Phil of Iowa; a special brother and sister-in-law Gordon and Janet Good and family of Longvalley, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law Mavis Nohrenberg.

Memorials to the American Heart Association would be appreciated by the family.
