Rapid City Growth
New construction popping up in Rapid City
News Staff - August 11, 2017

RAPID CITY, S.D. - More construction is underway for the land off of highway 44 near the Common Cents gas station in Rapid City.

They are in the early stages of an office building that will serve as the new offices for the Great Plains Tribal Chairman’s Health Board – which had outgrown its previous location.

The construction on the one-story structure began near the beginning of July and it’s set to be completed in mid-January. It’s part of a roughly 160 acre development on the east side of Rapid City, featuring housing, a church that just broke ground this week, and multiple other businesses.

The next project scheduled to break ground in the development is a dental clinic which will start next spring.

Meanwhile, another hotel is going up, this time near Rushmore Crossing.

According to a release from the city, the planning commission approved a 121-room Comfort Inn &Suite Hotel. The four-story hotel will be built east of Luna Avenue and south of the crossing.

A future phase of the hotel project could include a restaurant.
