WIND CAVE, S.D. - Firefighters worked through the night to get a handle on a 300-acre fire burning in Wind Cave National Park.

The Rankin Wildfire, about a mile south-southwest of the Highland Creek Trailhead, was not contained as of 9:50 a.m. Federal, state and local resources (including air attack) are on the scene.

The fire, sparked by lightning, was reported Monday afternoon.

Two other fires are also burning in the region.

The Blackhawk Wildfire has burned 7.5 acres near Cook Lake in Crook County, Wyo. Federal resources are working the fire. It has not been contained yet. It reportedly was caused by equipment.

The Sanders Wildfire in the Bald Hills area along Highway 385 and Victoria Lake Road was reported Tuesday morning. It has burned three to four acres. This is reportedly a human-caused fire.
