Tom was born in Scottsbluff, NE, on July 6, 1966, to Tommy Lee and Margaret Ann (Gilmore) Lowry, and spent his early years in Torrington, WY. After marrying Victoria Montoya, they moved to Rapid City where he raised his family and worked for the City of Rapid City in the Recreation Department.

Tom enjoyed many hobbies. He was an avid motorcyclist. He loved fishing the lakes and streams of the Black Hills. You would often find him on a golf course or in the kitchen cooking. He loved animals and could train anything. He was a Little League coach for his sons. Over the last couple years he became a skilled jewelry maker.

Most of all, Tom’s heart and soul was his family. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could with family and close friends. He especially loved to be at home with his grandchildren. Even in his last days when Vicki would try to keep “the girls” quiet he would say “Let them run and have fun. The sound they make is the best sound in the world.”

Tommy "Tom" Glenn Lowry passed away at the Hospice House in Rapid City, SD, on Monday, September 11, 2017, at the age of 51.

Tom is survived by his wife of 28 years, Victoria; his sister, Stacy Ann (Brian) Beman of Laramie, WY; his two sons, Nicholas Joseph and Jared Anthony Lowry of Rapid City; his two daughters, Megan Michelle (Jakeb) Myers of Sidney, NE, and Amanda Elizabeth (Nico) Steele of Rapid City. Tom also had six beautiful granddaughters; Neveah, Taliya, Emma, Melody, Harper and Avey.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret "Sis" Ann Gilmore and Tommy Lee Lowry; and his grandparents, William and Margaret Elizabeth Gilmore.

Tom’s final wish was not to have a funeral but to celebrate his full life. He wanted a time for family and friends to come together in prayer so a Rosary will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. A mass will be held in honor of Tom on Monday, September 18, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. The Rosary and the mass will be held at St. Isaac Jogues Church in Rapid City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice House, 224 Elk St., Rapid City, SD 57701. The family of Tom Lowry wishes to thank the staff of Hospice House and all of the family and friends that made Tom’s last days peaceful and loving.
