Sturgis Brown High School student holds food pantry fundraiser
News Staff and Gary Matthews - October 14, 2017

STURGIS, S.D. - Helping to heal -- a Sturgis Brown High School student took advanrtage of no homecoming activities Friday by holding a local food pantry fundraiser.

Senior Connor Crane held a lunch fundraiser for the Kiwanis Food Pantry for his Senior English Project at Harley Davidson Rally Point.

Crane was trying to come up with an idea for his project and with the help of his mom Rhea; they decided to help the Pantry.

The shelves at Kiwanis Food Pantry are pretty empty so this is a big help before the colder months hit.

But with everything going on surrounding the high school Crane attends, he’s trying to spread positivity.

Crane says “I know it means a lot to the food pantry but right now it means a lot to me with everything that’s happened. I think it’s going to bring some positive light to Sturgis."

Crane says a donation $5 bought you a good meal and helps those in Sturgis. They were also accepting canned goods as donations.

Crane's project brought in around 400-pounds of food and almost $4,000.
