Betty was born Elizabeth Ann Hohn in Ethan, SD, to Albert and Kathryn Hohn.

She married Raymond L. Walz on July 12, 1949.  They started their lives together in Parkston, Faith, Deadwood, Rapid City, and Harrisburg, SD, all compliments of the SD Highway Patrol.  Together they had four children Darla, Janet, Dale, and Delmar.  A house wife and long standing Avon representative, she also worked for the Piedmont postal service.

Retirement took them to their fishing camp every year on the Missouri river where they always enjoyed their good times with friends and relatives every weekend for many, many years.  If you wanted to see them in the summer months you traveled to Platte and their fishing camp.  The camp where all the fishing stories about the big walleye catch of the day was tossed from one fisherman to another during "happy hour."  Those were the good old days as Betty would say.

After they retired from fishing the Missouri river, Betty was an avid bingo player.  She loved to go to Deadwood on the weekends to gamble at First Gold.  She had a full rich life.

Nothing ranked higher than the love of her family.  She loved her grandsons and great-grandchildren.  Her eyes would sparkle when they came into a room.  And of course, there was the love of her life, her husband, Ray.  Rest in peace mom!
