On Tuesday, November 28, 2017 Calvin Frank Geis passed suddenly at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Cal was born on June 12, 1937 in Aladdin, WY to Clarence and Maxine (Chapman) Geis where he spent most of his childhood. The family moved to Belle Fourche where he graduated from high school in 1955. He attended the University of South Dakota for 1 year.

In the summer of 1956 Cal was cruising Main where he spotted Pearl June Sprague walking home for lunch. She would become his wife of 60 years. They were joined in marriage on August 10, 1957. This union was blessed with 3 children, Kellie, Lisa, and Scott.

Cal enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with family. He was involved in many community and civic organizations. He served on the Belle Fourche School Board, City Council, and Butte County Commissioners. He was on the Black Hills Roundup Committee for 50 plus years, Belle Fourche Economic Development, West River Foundation, and SD Workforce Development under the Department of Labor.

Cal was a true family man. Those grateful to have shared in his life are his wife, Pearl; daughter, Kellie (David) Pummel and son, Scott Geis (Jenny Thompson); grandchildren, Bailee (Wes) Fremont, Derek
Pummel, Jerud (Audrey) Pummel, and Chelsee Pummel; great grandchildren, Porter Fremont, Mazie Pummel and Garrett Pummel; Brother, Bob (Judy) Geis of Rapid City and sister, Charlaine (Tam) Gatje of Pierre and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Cal was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Maxine; daughter, Lisa Geis; 2 sisters, Charlotte and Lorraine and 3 brothers, Sherry, Bill, and Kenny.

There will be a celebration of Cal's life at Graps in Belle Fourche from 5-7pm on Friday, December 1 and funeral services on Saturday December 2 at 10:30 am at the Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche. Inurnment will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.

A memorial has been established for the Geis Memorial, a 501(c)3 organization that benefits the youth of Belle Fourche and surrounding area.
