Richard "Rich" Millage, age 77, of Philip, South Dakota, died on Sunday, December 3, at his home near Philip.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, at the American Legion Hall in Philip.

Interment with military honors will be held at the Masonic Cemetery in Philip.

Richard better known as "Rich" was born on July 25, 1940, in Philip to Earl and Grace (McDonnall) Millage. He grew up on the Millage Farm southeast of Philip. Rich graduated from the Philip High School in 1958.

As a young man, he worked for Dale's Trucking and the Fred service.

Richard was united in marriage to Janice L. Currier on December 31, 1964, in Kadoka, South Dakota. After their marriage they moved to Burbank, Washington. While in Burbank he worked as a truck driver hauling feed to a feed lot. Later he worked for Burlington Northern transporting piggy back trailers and rail cars. In 1971, they adopted their daughter Kimberly, who grew up in Washington, and graduated from high school and college there.

Richard then worked as a truck driver for Crown Zellerbach Paper Company traveling to four northwest states for five years. He then worked for Roundup Grocery Company and traveled to three states. Later he worked for Silver Eagle Transport Company traveling in the Tri-Cities area of Washington.

His last employment was with JJ Williams Transport hauling anything they needed. Rich retired in December 1996 and moved back to the Millage home place east of Philip with his wife Janice.

Rich was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion Post #173 of Philip.

Survivors include one daughter Kimberly Grace Miller and her husband David of Forest Grove, Oregon; two grandchildren Hannah Elaine Miller and Samantha Grace Miller; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents and one brother James Millage.

Arrangements are with Rush Funeral Home of Philip.
