- January 5, 2018

James Edward Bradley was born April 2, 1933, in Wessington Springs, SD, to Donald and Florence (Krog) Bradley.  Jim grew up in Wessington Springs where he attended school until he went into the Air Force where he stayed for three years.

After returning from the Air Force, Jim lived in Montana where he met his wife, Theresa.  The couple lived in Montana for a while then moved to Wessington Springs where they raised their five children, after which Jim and Theresa moved to Sturgis where they lived the remainder of their lives.

Jim drove a Semi truck for 30 years, owned a tavern for a short period, and finally finished his work career as a boiler operator at the Pope and Talbot Saw Mill in Spearfish.

Jim always enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was hunting and fishing with his buddy’s in the mountains of Montana when he was a younger man or getting to go pheasant hunting and walleye fishing with his family later in his life.  He also enjoyed the times when all his family got together for the holidays, a wedding, or a family reunion.

Jim is survived by his three sons, Jim and wife, Donna, of El Mirage, AZ, Mike and wife, Kristy, of Whitewood, and Mark and wife, Cathy, of Rapid City; and two daughters, Deb Buringa of Wessington and Sheila Jamison and husband, Jeff, of San Antonio.  He is also survived by his brother, Gary, and wife, Evelyn, of Wessington Springs; two sisters, Mary Jackson of Lane, and Pat Christensen of Arizona; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Theresa; two brothers, Richard and William; and two brothers-in-law, Darrell Jackson and Dennis Christensen.

Visitation will be Monday, January 8, from 8:00 a.m. until service time at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2017, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Rev. Denzel Nonhof officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
