Scooper boys outlast St Thomas More; girls fall
Gary Matthews - January 27, 2017

STURGIS, S.D. – Dawson Geueke led the way with 24 points as the Sturgis Scoopers outlasted St Thomas More in boys high school basketball Thursday night.

St Thomas More led most of the way, but a cold shooting fourth quarter led to their demise.

Gueke hit six 3-pointers and Jace Fischer added 2 to the cause as the Scoopers pulled away down the stretch to pick up the 57-49 win.

Tayton Maher led the Cavaliers with 22 points, but 17 of those were scored in the first quarter when St Thomas More was shooting better.

The St Thomas More Cavalier girls in the meantime stayed undefeated on the season as they rolled pad Sturgis 68-33.

The Cavaliers only led by 2 at the end of one quarter, but then picked up their game by outscoring Sturgis 20-6 in the second.

The Cavaliers had three players in double figures with Jayden Bies leading the way with 18 points.

Sturgis was led by Brook Janz, who scored 15 points.
