Red Angus, Shorthorn, Gelbvieh highlight cattle sales Thursday at Stock Show

RAPID CITY, S.D. - Three livestock breeds highlighted cattle sales at the Stock Show Thursday.

At the Red Angus sale, 35 lots of bulls sold for a total of $143,200. The average was $4,091. The top selling Red Angus bull sold for $8,250 and the top selling heifer sold for $11,500.

The Grand Champion Bull was JK Powerstroke 917E, and sold for $6,000.

The heifers brought in a total of $57,700, selling at an average of $4,438.

At the Gelbvieh Sale, 18 lots of bulls sold for a total of $79,200. The average for the bulls was $4,400. Top selling bull was BABR 7326E, selling for $11,000. The Grand Champion bull was Madd Hank 701E and sold for $8,500.

One heifer sold for a total of $5,750 and three bred heifers sold for $9,500.

At the Shorthorn sale, 8 lots of bulls sold for $21,000. The top selling Shorthorn bull sold for $3,600. The Grand Champion was GR Shear Force 2E, and sold for $2,800. Overall average for the bulls was $2,625.

Three heifers sold for $7,350, with the top selling heifer going for $3,250.

One bred heifer sold for $5,500.
