Belle Fourche bounces back from opening round loss; Warner cruises past Faith

WATERTOWN, S.D. – Belle Fourche bounced back from an opening session loss to beat Crow Creek 79-53 in consolation play at the girls Class A State Basketball Tournament Friday.

Four Belle Fourche players scored in double-figures, with Mandee Williamson leading the way with 24. Shayla Howell added 15, Raymie Keegan chipped in 14 and Rylee Young had 10.

The Broncs were 26-of-48 shooting, while Crow Creek was just 14-of-49.

Haylee Langdeau led Crow Creek with 18 points.

Belle Fourche will play Aberdeen Roncalli tomorrow for fifth place. Aberdeen Roncalli defeated Vermillion today.

 

Meanwhile, the top seeded Faith Longhorns couldn’t shake off their opening session loss as they fell to Warner today 60-45.

Warner shot 50-percent from the floor, and outscored Faith 23-8 in the second quarter. That was after Faith took an opening quarter lead of 16-10.

Warner was led by Laurie Rogers’ 20 points and four rebounds. Haylee Hanson added 17 points.

Faith, who shot 40-percent on 18-of-45, was led by Sydnie Schauer’s 14 points.

Faith will play Avon Saturday for seventh place. Avon lost by one point to Sully Buttes 41-40.
