Rapid City Stevens and Rapid City Central suffer opening round losses at Girls Class AA Tournament

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Rapid City Stevens opened up the 2018 Girls Class AA Basketball Championship Tournament with a tough 45-34 loss to Harrisburg.

Shooting woes plagued Stevens early as the Tigers rolled to a 15-0 first quarter lead.

Harrisburg would never look back as they outscored Stevens 13-10 in the second. Rapid City Stevens gained a little momentum in the third, but Harrisburg bounced back in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Elizabeth Schaefer and Sydney Smith each scored 9 to lead Stevens. Jeniah Ugofsky led Harrisburg with 15 points and 8 rebounds.

Rapid City  Central also dropped their opening game to top seed Aberdeen Central.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 14-6 first quarter lead and never looked back.

Paiton Burkchard led Aberdeen Central with 17 points and Abbie Freeman led Central with 15.
