STURGIS, S.D. – Both Rapid City Central boys and girls basketball teams dominated play Tuesday night as they cruised to wins over Sturgis.
In the girls game, Karli O’Brien had 18 points and hit four 3-pointers as the Cobblers won 66-51. Michelle Johnson added 17 points for the Cobblers.
Sturgis was led by Loralee Stock’s 21 points.
Central opened the game with a 22-10 first quarter lead and never looked back, using a full court defense to force Sturgis turnovers.
In the boys game, Central jumped out to an 18-7 lead, and never let the Scoopers close the gap as they cruised to a 66-53 win.
Kaileb Walton Blanden led Central with 20 points. Dylan Hay scored 13.
Central’s gritty man-to-man defense didn’t allow the Scoopers very many open shots, and the Scoopers shot cold when they did get a look.
Connor Crane led the Scoopers in scoring with 16 points.
