DEADWOOD, S.D. - Deadwood has been honored as True West Magazine's Top True Western Town and Best of the West.
Editor of the magazine, Bob Boze, says the history of Deadwood is really the history of the old west. When people visit Deadwood, they have the ability to see and experience history with inclusive reenactments and lively hosts.
“Deadwood truly has something for everyone; the history is obviously a big draw, but once people get here they realize all the other great things to do,” said Deadwood Chamber of Commerce Director Lee Harstead. “It really is a smorgasbord of activities for families and couples and everyone mixed in."
Deadwood was also named Best Place to Live Like A Cowboy and Best Architecturally-Preserved Western Town. The Saloon No. 10 on Main Street, Deadwood was also named Best Historic Saloon of the West.
