Deadwood Gaming Revenues Down Again
News Staff - November 29, 2016

DEADWOOD, S.D. - According to statistics released today by the South Dakota Commission on Gaming, the October 2016 gaming handle fell 6.62 percent overall, with slot machine handle decreasing 6.24 percent when compared to October 2015. The table game handle fell by 12.44 percent , when compared to last October's numbers. Deadwood gaming operators rewarded players with $1,413,436.26 in "free-play" for the month of October. This left $7,484,399.74 in total gaming revenues for the month, when using the SD Supreme Court ruling on factoring gaming revenues. "In what has, unfortunately, become the norm for 2016, Deadwood has experienced another down month in gaming revenues." said Mike Rodman, executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association. "Despite unbelievable fall weather and a small increase in hotel occupancy, gaming numbers continued trending downward. This has pushed our year over year to date revenue to a negative 3.68 percent." Deadwood continues to experience the same economic slowdown pressures as the rest of South Dakota.
