RAPID CITY, S.D. - After splitting the season series, Rapid City Central picked up a win when it counted the most -- knocking off Rapid City Stevens in the first round of the girls Class AA State Tournament in Rapid City.
Mya Jones led the way for Central, with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Abby Johnson had 13 points and 7 rebounds for the Cobblers.
Stevens jumped out on top of the Cobblers early -- leading by double-figures at one point.
Central came roaring back and outscored Central 21-6 in the fourth quarter.
Stevens was led by Kyah Watson's 12 points.
Up next for Rapid City Central is Harrisburg - the top seed - who defeated Pierre 64-39.
In the other two first round games Thursday, Sioux Falls O'Gorman upset Sioux Falls Roosevelt 37-33 and Aberdeen Central defeated Brandon Valley 51-43.
Rapid City Stevens will play Pierre in the consolation semi-finals Friday.
