ABERDEEN, S.D. - Wolsey-Wessington jumped out to a 12-7 first quarter lead and used a big fourth quarter to pull away from Harding County in first round action at the Boys Class B State Basketball Tournament.
Wolsey-Wessington led 21-14 at halftime, but Harding County stayed with the Warbirds in the third quarter.
But Wolsey-Wessington would explode for 23 points in the fourth quarter, holding the Ranchers to just 9, to pick up the 56-35 victory.
The Warbirds were led by Darian Ogunjemilusi with 16 points.
The Ranchers were led by Jarret Jenson's 16 points.
In other action Thursday, seven-seed Parker upset second-seed Langford Area 48-39.
Top seeded Bridgewater/Emery-Ethan had no trouble with Platte-Geddes, 67-39 and Sully Buttes beat White River 65-52.
Harding County plays in the consolation semi-finals Friday against Langford Area at 1:45 p.m. CT.
