RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Stevens' girls rebounded from their loss to Rapid City Central Thursday night with a 71-55 win over Pierre in the consolation semifinals Friday at the Class AA Girls State Basketball Tournament.
Kyah Watson led Rapid City Stevens with 12 points. Two players chipped in 11 points. They were Elizabeth Schaefer and Emma Burns.
Stevens led 13-8 after one quarter and outscored the Lady Governors 23-12 in the second to take a 36-20 lead at halftime.
Emily Mikkelsen led Pierre with 13 points.
In the other consolation game, Sioux Falls Roosevelt defeated Brandon Valley 49-43.
Stevens will play Roosevelt in the consolation championship game Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Rapid City Stevens boys also rebounded off their Thursday night loss to Pierre with another thriller. This time, though, the game went in their favor – a 54-53 win over Brookings.
It was another big game for Mason Archambault – who finished with 21 points to lead the Raiders. Cooper Bowman chipped in 15 points for Stevens.
The Raiders had to fight their way back – outscoring the Bobcats 12-8 in the fourth quarter.
Carter Holm led Brookings with 21 points.
In the other consolation game, Huron beat Harrisburg 63-52. Stevens will play Huron Saturday for the consolation championship.
