RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Rapid City Stevens girls basketball team defeated Sioux Falls Roosevelt Saturday to take the consolation championship at the Girls Class AA State Basketball Tournament.

Stevens jumped out to a 15-4 lead after one quarter, and increased their lead to 37 to 22 at halftime. Roosevelt outscored Stevens in the third quarter, 16-10, but it wasn't enough as the Raider girls win 62-49.

Rapid City Stevens had four players in double-figures, led by Kyah Watson's 17 points. Mya Hendry chipped in 14 for the Raiders.

Rapid City Central, in the meantime, lost 60-34 to Aberdeen Central for third place.

The Golden Eagles outscored Central 20-7 in the opening quarter, but the Cobblers battled back in the second, outscoring Aberdeen Central 11-5.  But a big third quarter for the Golden Eagles put the game away.

Central was paced by Abby Johnson's 15 points.
