|Sturgis Fire Crews help with fire near Ft. Meade early Monday morning

STURGIS, S.D. - Fire crews from Sturgis, Ft. Meade, Vale and Whitewood were among the initial agencies responding to a small fire in the Ft. Meade area overnight.
Sturgis Fire Chief Tom Trigg says his fire crews responded to the blaze around 10:00 p.m. Sunday night, and were able to get a "pretty good line" around the fire by the time they were relieved early Monday morning.
Great Plains Fire Dispatch says the Soldier Fire burned approximately 2.6 acres, and its cause was under investigation.
State and federal resources remained on scene of the fire today mopping up hot spots and strengthening the line.
The fire was located near Highway 34 and Old Stone Road.
