Vehicle destroyed by fire Friday morning in Sturgis

STURGIS, S.D. – Fire crews from Sturgis and Ft. Meade responded to a vehicle fire behind the McDonald’s restaurant Friday morning.

Sturgis Fire Chief Scott Lensegrav says when they arrived it was engulfed in flames.

The vehicle was parked next to a Municipal Well House. Lensegrav says minor damage to well house was reported, and the vehicle, a GMC Envoy, was a total loss.

Sturgis Public Works gave kudos to firefighters for quickly knocking down the fire before it did substantial damage to the well house.

No injuries were reported.
