111th Faith Stock Show & Rodeo hosts big events in a small town

FAITH, SD – From golf scrambles to plenty of arena action, there is a full slate of activities planned for the 111th Faith Stock Show and Rodeo.

Set for August 10-15 in Faith, ropers will be front and center Tues., Aug. 10 for the Dakota Championship Roping at 10am followed by LBR (WPRA sanctioned). A #7 and a #5 roping is also scheduled.

Indian Relay Races. Faith Stock Show & Rodeo

Stock Show exhibits  opens Wednesday’s (Aug. 11) events followed by the FSS&R World Bucking Futurity at 10am.  The annual  “Riding For Pedro” saddle bronc competition gets  underway at 5pm, and the U.S. Open PRCA Xtreme Broncs Match begins at 7pm.

For families and kids, Thurs., Aug. 12 is fun filled day at the Faith Stock Show.  Youngsters can enjoy Kids’ Day Horse events as well as bicycle activities and the mutton busting at 5:00p.m., followed by a crowd favorite,  the Ranch Rodeo  at 6pm.

On Fri., Aug. 13, the Pen of Three Livestock Show begins at 8a.m. For golfing enthusiasts, a Golf Scramble gets underway at 8:30a.m. Exhibits are open to public beginning at 10a.m.  Then it’s the first SDRA & NRCA Rodeo performance  getting underway at  6:30p.m. The performance features a  calf scramble, wild pony races, pony bareback riding, and ranch bronc riding. The Faith Stock Show & Rodeo Queen will also be crowned at this performance.

Rodeo slack, another SDRA & NRCA Rodeo performance, and calf scramble are all on Sat., Aug. 14. Back this year  are the wildly popular Indian Relay Races with the first race on Saturday.  “Storybook”  is the theme for the parade that gets underway at 10am. This year’s Parade Marshalls are Ed and Karen Miller.

Following the Parade there is a pie social at the Senior Citizens Center.  Exhibits are also open to the public following the parade. Take in the annual Tractor Pull at 1:30pm.

The 111th Faith Stock Show & Rodeo wraps up on Sunday, August 11th with a full day of events.  Begin the day with breakfast at the Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast   and a cowboy worship service.

Rodeo slack is at 8am and a repeat of the popular parade themed “Storybook” parade gets underway at 10am.  SDRA & NRCA rodeo that afternoon includes an old original wild ride competition and more Indian Relay Races.
