4-year-old thrown from car, driver charged

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — A child was hurt and a driver is charged following a crash in Sioux Falls Friday night.

The crash happened at the intersection of 12th Street and Kiwanis Avenue in western Sioux Falls Friday night at about 6:30 p.m

According to police, the driver of a Hyundai Genesis ran a red light and crashed into a Chevrolet Malibu. A 4-year-old inside the Malibu was thrown from the car. The child was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It is unknown at the time whether other drivers or passengers were injured.

A total of four vehicles were involved. Six ambulances and four fire trucks were on site.

Police have charged the driver of the Genesis, 33-year-old Nathan Earley, with DWI and vehicular battery.
