Annual awards handed out at Sturgis Scooper Football Award Show

STURGIS, S.D. - The annual Sturigs Scooper Football Award Show was held Monday night at the Community Center as local athletes were recognized for their accomplishments on the football field.

KBHB's Gary Matthews and Terry Anderson handed out the Best Back award, which was given to Josh Fowler.

Fowler's breakout performance came against Mitchell in week seven where he had 4 carries for 94 yards, and against Belle Fourche where he had 6 carries for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns. Josh added another dimension to the Scooper offense with his slashing style of running….Josh also added 3 receptions per game and had 8 total touchdowns for the season.

Winning the Offensive Lineman award was Cy Eixenburger and Trevor Keierleber won outstanding Defensive Lineman.

Winnning MVP Linebacker was Wren Jacobs and Justin Burnham was awarded the MVP Defensive Back.

Logam Lemmel picked up the Scout Team Player of the Year Award and Reece Jacobs captured Rookie of the Year.

The Most Improved, or Breakout Player of the Year was Daylen Rhodes.

Trevor Keierleber won the Character Matters Competitor of the Year and Trevor Erlenbusch won the prestigious Doug Miller Award given out by head coach Chris Koletzky.

The Senior Class also presented Coach Rex Schrock a picture plaque of Woodle Field as a Special Recognition Award.

All Senior Players also received plaques and mini Scooper helmets. All Conference, All State and Academic All State Players were also honored at Monday night's ceremony.
