Arlie Lee Mullins

- December 9, 2020

Arlie Lee Mullins was born November 12, 1934, in Staunton, VA, to Tracy and Ora (Copenhaver) Mullins. He was the oldest of 5 children.

At a young age Arlie joined the U.S. Army in 1953, and served 2 years, before serving in the Air Force from 1955 to 1973.  During the 18 years in the Air Force, he proudly fought for our country in the Vietnam War.  After retiring from the military, he moved to Colorado in the early 1970’s. There he coached women’s softball where he met the love of his is life on the field.  He married Darlene (Knutson) on June 20, 1979, in a Las Vegas wedding chapel.

Arlie lived a full life.  He owned a long-haul trucking business and rental properties before retiring from Valley Food Co-op in Fort Collins, CO, in 1999.  A family man, Arlie spent weekends fishing with his family and braved several RV and motorcycle trips across the United States.  He enjoyed spending time on the golf course, and most of all he loved travelling.  He was a doting grandfather who relished the opportunity to watch his grandchildren play sports, enter cake competitions or join them in a round of golf.

He enjoyed good ol’ country music, sitting outside and watching the motorcycles go by during the rally, coaching and refereeing his kids in sports, playing cards, tending his roses and tomatoes and would engage in friendly conversation with anyone as often as possible.  He was known to start a water fight or two and loved to laugh and to make people laugh.  Those are the moments his family will treasure.

Arlie, age 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Sturgis Regional Hospital.
